Ghana Police dismantle armed gangs and resolve murder cases

The Ghana Police Service has reported several major breakthroughs in its nationwide crackdown on robbery and murder. Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno announced that intelligence-led operations have successfully dismantled criminal syndicates targeting gold dealers, mining sites, and financial institutions.

In the Ashanti and Western regions, police dismantled an armed gang accused of attacking gold-producing communities. The operations resulted in the arrest of five suspects, the death of one individual, and the recovery of three AK-47 assault rifles, 357 rounds of ammunition, and two vehicles. One recovered weapon was found buried in farmland.

Additionally, police resolved the murder of Dr. Jesse Amuah and his wife, Elizabeth Esi Amuah. The suspect, Abraham Awundok, an errand boy for the couple, was apprehended following an Interpol Red Notice after being deported from Dubai.

In the Greater Accra and Tema areas, authorities foiled planned robbery attacks on banks in Labone. The investigation also exposed a syndicate that had been stalking bank customers and breaking into vehicles to steal cash.
