Ghana Police forward Ashie Moore theft case to Attorney-General

The Ghana Police Service has forwarded a case docket against Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to the Attorney-General's Department for prosecution. The move follows a March 2026 recommendation from Senior State Attorney Nana Ama A. Prempeh, who advised that Mr. Ashie Moore be charged with stealing under the Criminal Offences Act, 1960.

The allegations involve a complaint from Singaporean businessman Toh You Kang, who claims Mr. Ashie Moore took various personal items while Mr. Kang was in police custody in June 2025. The reported missing items include a Singaporean passport, US$10,000 in cash, luxury luggage, electronic devices, and vehicle keys. Mr. Kang had traveled to Ghana in May 2025 following an invitation from Mr. Ashie Moore regarding a potential business investment.

Mr. Ashie Moore has denied all allegations, describing them as a smear campaign against his political career. The investigation included reviews of CCTV footage and cybercrime analysis from the Fiesta Residences in Cantonments, where the complainant was staying.
