Ghana Police investigating alleged assassination attempts on Special Prosecutor

Ghanaian Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed has announced that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service is still investigating alleged assassination attempts against Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng.

The investigation also covers the reported assault of a senior official from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) by police officers. The Ministry of the Interior has formally directed the CID to probe these incidents to establish the circumstances and determine appropriate actions, but the Ministry is still awaiting the final report.

The allegations surfaced following claims made by the OSP’s Director of Strategy, Research and Communications, Samuel Appiah Darko, regarding the Special Prosecutor surviving two assassination attempts while performing official duties. The Minister confirmed he has followed up with the Inspector General of Police to expedite the findings.
