Ghana Police Service pledges security for Democracy Cup tournament

The Ghana Police Service has pledged its full support and security for the upcoming Democracy Cup, scheduled for Friday, August 28, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, received the tournament trophy at the Police Headquarters in Accra during a visit from a parliamentary delegation led by Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror.

The event, which features a match between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak, serves as a platform to promote democratic values through football. The IGP emphasized the importance of the country’s 30-year democratic journey, stating that the security services are committed to upholding democracy for future generations. He further assured that police personnel would be deployed to maintain discipline and ensure peace during and after the tournament.
