Ghana Police Service promotes 22 officers to Deputy Commissioner
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has decorated 22 officers promoted from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) at the Police Headquarters in Accra. The promotions, which received approval from President John Dramani Mahama, follow recommendations from the Police Council.
Among the promoted officers is Kofi Sarpong, a Ghanaian gospel musician who has balanced his music career with his service in the Ghana Police Service for over two decades. The elevation of these officers is intended to strengthen leadership within the service, as they are expected to assume regional-level and other senior positions.
During the ceremony, IGP Yohuno stated that the promotions recognize the dedication and diligence of officers who have served a minimum of four years in their previous ranks. He urged the new DCOPs to enhance public safety, improve the image of the police service, and intensify security efforts ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities.
