Ghana President Mahama pitches economic recovery to global investors at London Stock Exchange

President John Dramani Mahama told investors that Ghana’s economy has rebounded sharply, with inflation falling from 23.8% to 3.7%, the cedi stabilising, international reserves climbing to about US$14 billion and the country’s credit rating moving from junk to a positive outlook. He outlined a new growth model focused on industrialisation, agro‑processing, digital services and a "24‑hour economy" to boost productivity and exports.

During a market‑opening ceremony at the London Stock Exchange, Mahama rang the opening bell and urged global investors to back the Ghana Stock Exchange. He noted that the GSE composite index delivered a 63.4% return in 2026, ranking among the world’s top‑performing markets, and that US‑dollar returns rose 154% in 2025. After a seven‑year pause, three new IPOs raised roughly 2 billion Ghanaian cedis (about US$182 million) and added 11 billion cedis in market capitalisation, signalling renewed capital‑raising activity.
