Ghana President Mahama shortlists seven firms for Keta Port project

President John Mahama has announced that seven companies have been shortlisted to develop the Keta Port in the Volta Region. The selection follows a due diligence process involving 47 firms that originally submitted expressions of interest to partner with the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).

The shortlisted companies will now move into a phase focused on finalizing engineering designs and securing financing to begin construction. While the specific names of the seven companies were not disclosed, Mahama noted that an administration block for the port, which began construction under a previous administration, is already underway and expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2027.

In addition to the port project, Mahama addressed other regional developments, including the resumption of the Sogakope-Agodome-Keta Water Project following Ghana’s debt restructuring. He also provided updates on road infrastructure, stating that the Ho-Denu Road is progressing toward a 2027 completion and that procurement is underway for various other road reconstruction projects in the area.
