Ghana Publishing Company invests €1.5m in security printing

The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) is investing approximately €1.5 million in specialized security printing equipment to expand its operational capacity and diversify revenue streams. Managing Director Nana Kwesi Boaitey announced the initiative during the Government Accountability Series, noting that the new machinery is expected to arrive in Ghana during November.

The investment aims to position the state-owned company to compete in the production of sensitive documents, such as passports and chequebooks. To support this expansion, GPCL is converting an existing warehouse into a dedicated security printing section to provide a suitable production environment for the new technology.

This move is part of a broader modernization and retooling strategy. By combining digital and offset printing with new security press capabilities, GPCL intends to improve productivity, enhance long-term profitability, and compete more effectively in both local and international markets.
