Ghana religious leader urges government to tackle recurring floods

Apostle Dr. Eric Nyamekye, chairman of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, called on the Ghanaian government to intensify action against the country's annual flooding. Speaking at the GPCC 2026 National Delegates Conference on June 24, he criticised weak enforcement of sanitation laws and unregulated construction in flood‑prone areas, urging stricter legislation and better town‑planning oversight.

Nyamekye also appealed for public and Christian community support for flood victims, noting that the GPCC has already provided financial assistance to families in Samreboi. He emphasized that sympathy must be accompanied by concrete aid and that the government should lead in preventing future flooding disasters.
