Ghana revokes Adamus Resources Limited mining leases

The Ghanaian Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has revoked the mining leases of Adamus Resources Limited following findings of regulatory breaches. The Ministry clarified that the decision was based on compliance and legality rather than an intention to sell the company’s assets or transfer them to other investors.

According to the Minerals Commission, the breaches included mining outside permitted areas without an Operating Permit, general regulatory non-compliance regarding safety and operational requirements, and outstanding financial obligations to the state. The revocation was executed under section 5(1) of Act 703.

The decision has sparked public debate regarding the treatment of indigenous businesses. While some argue that the government should protect Ghanaian-owned companies to support local livelihoods, others point to the government’s intensified crackdown on illegal mining as evidence that legal standards must be applied uniformly, regardless of ownership.
