Ghana Roads Minister warns of poor construction as Nigeria retires senior highway official urging more funding

Ghana’s Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Agbodza said this year’s heavy rains have exposed shortcomings in road construction under the government’s Big Push programme. He urged contractors to improve drainage, earthworks and compaction, warned that delays would no longer be accepted, and praised Dwawill Limited for turning around the Atimpoku‑Asikuma Junction project after a threatened termination.

In Nigeria, retiring Director of Highways, Construction and Rehabilitation Clement Ogbuagu called on the federal government to increase funding for road infrastructure, describing the sector as the backbone of the economy. He commended Minister of Works David Umahi for introducing concrete pavement technology and urged continued investment and digital reforms to sustain national development.
