Ghana Roads Ministry denies viral video shows poor construction in country

The Ghana Ministry of Roads and Highways has dismissed a viral video showing a road surface being pulled apart by hand, stating the footage was filmed in Liberia rather than Ghana.

Kojo Danquah, spokesperson for Roads and Highways Minister Governs Kwame Agbodza, stated that investigations confirmed the video's origin is Liberia. He noted that those circulating the footage failed to provide specific Ghanaian locations or identify any local contractors involved. Danquah argued the video was being used to damage the government's reputation and undermine the minister's record on infrastructure.

The Ministry issued a statement categorically rejecting the misrepresentation, warning that such content misleads the public regarding the quality of national road projects. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to construction standards and highlighted the minister's ongoing inspection tours to monitor project quality nationwide. The Ministry urged the public and media to verify the authenticity and location of such videos before sharing them to avoid distorting discussions on infrastructure.
