Ghana security recruits dismissed for violating phone ban

At least 10 recruits have been dismissed from Ghana’s security services training schools for violating a directive that bans the use of mobile phones during training. Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak-Mohammed disclosed that the affected individuals were caught secretly keeping their devices, with some reportedly hiding phones in their pillows to make calls at night.

The Minister emphasized that the dismissals are necessary to enforce discipline and ensure compliance with institutional rules. He noted that the recent recruitment process was highly competitive, with over 500,000 applicants vying for approximately 10,000 training positions. Mubarak-Mohammed stressed that admission to the security services requires strict adherence to regulations and high standards of responsibility.
