Ghana Sports Minister says Constituency Games are work in progress

Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, stated that the proposed Constituency Games are currently a work in progress. The initiative aims to establish a structured pathway for young athletes to move from community-level competitions to regional and national championships.

Proposed disciplines for the inaugural Games include football, athletics, boxing, and para-sports. According to National Paralympic Committee president Samson Deen, the program is designed to identify talent for scholarships, academies, and international competitions such as the Olympics and Paralympics. The initiative also seeks to provide training in coaching, officiating, and sports media to create broader employment opportunities.

Additionally, Mr. Adams confirmed that the dissolved National Sports Authority board will soon be reconstituted, noting that some former members may return due to their expertise.
