Ghana Statistical Service launches Ghana in Numbers 2025 publication

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has released its first flagship publication, Ghana in Numbers 2025. The report provides official data on population, social development, the economy, governance, and the environment to support national planning and evidence-based decision-making.

Government Statistician Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu noted that while certain indicators such as inflation, poverty, and life expectancy show progress, challenges remain. Unemployment fell to 12.8 percent in 2025, but over 70 percent of jobs remain in the informal sector. Additionally, nearly two million young people are currently not in education, employment, or training.

Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, Governor of the Bank of Ghana, attended the launch and called for the creation of a dedicated electronic portal. He emphasized that providing national statistical data in machine-readable formats would allow researchers and policymakers to utilize artificial intelligence and machine learning to better identify economic trends and strengthen monetary policy.
