Ghana Stock Exchange sees high concentration in MTN Ghana trading

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) has experienced periods of high concentration and significant price volatility. On September 7, 2026, trading was heavily dominated by MTN Ghana, which accounted for approximately 90.19% of total market volume and 90.85% of total value. During this session, 18.47 million MTN Ghana shares were traded, valued at GH¢126.32 million. GCB Bank followed as the second most active stock by value, contributing roughly 7.64% of the market's turnover.

This concentration follows a month of divergent performance in August, where the GSE saw a sharp split between major gainers and losers.
