Ghana suspends new security service recruitment for 2027

The Ghanaian government has announced that it will not accept new applications for recruitment into various security services in 2027. Interior Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak stated that the decision follows instructions from President John Dramani Mahama.

The suspension aims to address a backlog of qualified applicants who have already completed the recruitment process but were unable to proceed to training due to limited capacity. Instead of opening the recruitment portal to new candidates, the government will select qualified individuals from the existing list of applicants who met all requirements but were previously sidelined by space constraints.

Minister Mubarak confirmed that the recruitment process will continue to draw from this existing pool until the list is exhausted. Only after all eligible applicants on the current list have been considered will the government invite fresh applications.
