Ghana tanker drivers end strike following BOST agreement

The Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST) have reached an agreement to end a three-day sit-down strike at the Kumasi depot.

The industrial action was initiated due to the deteriorating condition of the depot's parking yard, which drivers claimed became hazardous during rainfall, and concerns regarding fuel shortages during the offloading process. Drivers also cited inaccuracies in measuring meters and faulty loading equipment as primary grievances.

Under the new agreement, BOST has committed to immediate repairs, including resurfacing the AG car park and fixing a hanging loading arm. Additionally, a contract has been awarded for the construction of a new car park. To address concerns regarding meter accuracy and potential financial discrepancies, both parties have agreed to engage the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) to investigate error margins.
