Ghana targets deeper investment ties with Nigeria
Ghana is seeking to deepen investment and trade ties with Nigeria through a new economic diplomacy agenda. This initiative follows data from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) showing that Ghana attracted over US$2.6 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) across 254 projects in 2025.
Nigeria has emerged as a significant contributor to this growth, providing US$104.68 million in investment, making it Ghana’s third-largest source of new investment for the year. While China led in the total number of registered projects, Nigeria’s financial contribution underscores the growing economic interdependence between the two West African nations.
H.E. Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, Ghana’s High Commissioner-designate to Nigeria, met with GIPC CEO Simon Madjie in Accra to discuss strategies for the “Ghana in Nigeria” agenda. The goal is to move bilateral relations beyond political and cultural foundations toward a stronger economic partnership that creates expanded market opportunities for businesses in both countries.
