Ghana to build $50m organic fertiliser facility in Eastern Region
Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with ABC Oyeasase Yie Ltd to establish a $50 million organic fertiliser blending facility in the Eastern Region.
The project aims to boost domestic organic fertiliser production, enhance soil health, and support the government’s Feed Ghana Programme. According to Dr Eric Opoku, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, the shift toward organic fertiliser is intended to protect soil productivity and maximize crop yields for safer food consumption.
ABC Oyeasase Yie Ltd Director Samuel Adimado stated the investment focuses on sustainable soil management. The organic-based fertiliser is designed to improve soil structure and water-holding capacity, serving both conventional and organic farmers. The Ministry has also indicated plans to procure products from the facility once production begins.
