Ghana Tourism Authority extends 2026 festive event proposal deadline

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has extended the deadline for event proposals for the 2026 edition of ‘December in GH’ to Monday, September 7, 2026. The festive season, scheduled to run from December 1, 2026, to January 3, 2027, aims to showcase Ghana’s culture, heritage, and entertainment through a nationwide cultural journey.

Parallel to these promotional efforts, Ghana’s tourism sector is emerging as a significant driver for youth employment and entrepreneurship. Data indicates that tourism-related employment rose from 252,714 jobs in 2021 to an estimated 429,641 total jobs in 2023 when including indirect roles. The sector generated approximately US$4.8 billion in revenue, with international tourist arrivals continuing to grow, reaching 1,306,962 in 2025.
