Ghana, US to Hold Extradition Talks Over Former Finance Minister Ofori-Atta
Ghana and the United States will conduct high‑level bilateral discussions to address outstanding extradition requests. The talks will involve Ghana’s Attorney‑General and Minister for Justice, Dominic Ayine, and officials from the U.S. Department of Justice. Key cases on the agenda include Ghana’s request to extradite former Finance Minister Ken Ofori‑Atta, who is under investigation in Ghana, and the United States’ request for a suspect identified as Abu Trica. The meetings follow recent judicial cooperation, notably the extradition and return of former MASLOC chief executive Sedina Tamakloe Attionu to Ghana, where she was taken into custody.
The discussions aim to deepen legal cooperation between the two countries and resolve pending extradition matters on both sides.
