Ghana welcomes fifth batch of Hajj pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia

A flight carrying 387 Ghanaian pilgrims returned to Tamale International Airport after completing the Hajj in Saudi Arabia. Thousands of residents, family members and officials gathered at the terminal, chanting “Allahu Akbar” and celebrating the safe arrival.

The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) coordinated transportation and security, deploying buses and escorts to move pilgrims to Bawku and surrounding communities. PAOG Communications Director Mohammed Amin Lamptey confirmed that logistical arrangements were in place to ensure a smooth return.

PAOG Chairman Alhaji Abdul‑Rauf Tanko Ibrahim thanked President John Dramani Mahama, Northern Regional Minister Ali Adolf John and other stakeholders for their support, and expressed hope for peace and development in Bawku. Pilgrims reported gratitude and spiritual fulfillment, with several stating the Hajj strengthened their faith.
