Ghana Black Queens' WAFCON 2026 Schedule, Camp Shift, and Provisional Squad Announced
The Ghana women's national football team, the Black Queens, will compete in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco. A revised group‑stage schedule shows Ghana opening against Cape Verde on 29 July, then facing Cameroon on 2 August and Mali on 6 August, with all three matches at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca.
CAF has moved Ghana’s pre‑tournament camp from Fez to Casablanca, a logistical change that the team says will have minimal impact on preparations. Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren also released a provisional 27‑player squad, headed by captain Portia Boakye and featuring veterans such as Grace Asantewaa, Cynthia Konlan, Alice Kusi and newcomer home‑based talents. The squad will train in Casablanca ahead of the group stage, aiming to secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
