Ghanaian agencies implement new export guidelines and pursue US market links
The Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) and the Bank of Ghana (BoG) have conducted stakeholder engagements in Kumasi and Sunyani to discuss the country’s revised export proceeds regime. These sessions focused on the new Letter of Commitment (LOC) guidelines, which are designed to strengthen the monitoring of export transactions and ensure that proceeds are repatriated through the formal financial system.
The engagements included exporters, freight forwarders, customs agents, and trade associations such as the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI). The LOC is an export document generated via the Integrated Customs Management System (ICUMS) intended to improve financial oversight of formal merchandise exports.
Separately, the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) led a delegation to Columbus, Ohio, as part of the Columbus Investment Summit. Led by CEO Margaret Ansei, the initiative aims to connect Ghanaian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) with international markets and American businesses. The GEA is working to reduce barriers to market access and visibility to help Ghanaian entrepreneurs, particularly women and youth, compete in the global economy.
