Ghanaian agencies provide training and equipment to youth

The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) have launched initiatives to support young entrepreneurs and artisans through training and the distribution of start-up kits.

In the Ashanti Region, the GEA, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, graduated 242 young entrepreneurs under the Agriculture and Agribusiness to Entrepreneurship (AA2E) component of the Business in a Box initiative. Beneficiaries received training in livestock farming, catfish farming, and fruit juice processing, along with kits to help establish sustainable businesses.

In the Juaboso District of the Western North Region, the YEA provided artisans with industrial sewing machines, electrical tools, and other materials. The agency reported that over 300 young people in the district have benefited from its programs, with some entering artisanal trades and others serving in roles such as police assistants and prison officers.
