Ghanaian authorities and QNET combat brand misuse by criminal networks
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Ghana has issued a warning regarding criminal networks using the name of direct-selling company QNET to deceive citizens. According to Superintendent William Ayariga of the CID's Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, fraudsters are leveraging the brand to promise quick riches, which often leads to financial exploitation or human trafficking.
Superintendent Ayariga clarified that QNET itself is not an illegitimate business, but rather a target for identity misuse by organized groups. These perpetrators typically extort money from victims before coercing them into fraudulent online activities.
In response, QNET reported that its collaboration with West African law enforcement, including Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), has resulted in the rescue of over 300 suspected scam victims. The company stated it has referred 158 cases to authorities, assisted more than 3,000 victims in returning to their families, and terminated 141 distributor accounts for policy violations. QNET is also engaging with INTERPOL and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to strengthen anti-fraud initiatives and intelligence sharing.
