Ghanaian banks roll out training programmes for SMEs and women entrepreneurs

Stanbic Bank Ghana held a two‑day SME Clinic in Tamale, themed “From Survival to Scale”. Over 90% of Ghana’s businesses are SMEs, contributing about 70% of GDP and 85% of employment. The bank, together with KPMG and the Ghana Enterprises Agency, urged participants to adopt structured systems, offering advisory on positioning, financial management and operational discipline. Speakers highlighted that internal weaknesses, not external shocks, often cause SME failure.

Access Bank Ghana, in partnership with Deloitte Ghana, organised a Women Business Workshop for female clients. The event delivered training on financial planning, risk assessment and strategic growth, emphasizing that capital alone is insufficient without financial literacy and robust business structures. Both initiatives are part of broader “Beyond Banking” agendas to strengthen Ghana’s private sector and support scalable, resilient enterprises.
