Ghanaian citizens: 62 dead and 15 missing in Russia-Ukraine war
Ghanaian Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has announced that 62 Ghanaian citizens have died and 15 others remain missing while participating in the Russia-Ukraine war. The announcement was made during a press conference in Moscow following bilateral discussions with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Minister Ablakwa addressed the issue of illegal recruitment, noting that many Ghanaian youths are being lured into the conflict through deceptive trafficking operations, fraudulent job advertisements, and coerced military contracts. He emphasized that the Ghanaian government will continue to advocate for the protection of its citizens from being drawn into the war.
In response, the Russian government has pledged to collaborate with Ghana to prevent the unlawful enlistment of Ghanaian citizens into military operations.
