Ghanaian court remands four men for gold robbery and police assault

Four men have been remanded by the Nsuta Circuit Court in Ghana's Ashanti Region following allegations of involvement in an armed robbery and the sexual assault of a policewoman. The accused include Issah Musah, Clinton Mawuli Ashirow, Duker Prince, and Wilfred Quansah.

The prosecution alleges the incident occurred on August 12, 2026, when a policewoman from the Offinso Divisional Police Command was sexually assaulted at gunpoint while returning home from duty. Musah is allegedly part of a seven-man gang targeting gold shops and mining sites across the Ashanti, Central, and Western North regions.

Further allegations state that in January 2026, the gang attacked a gold merchant’s shop in Diaso, using AK-47 rifles to steal gold valued at GH¢20 million. The four suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
