Ghanaian education policies face criticism over logistics and fees

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, an aide to New Patriotic Party flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has raised concerns regarding the implementation of educational policies in Ghana.

Addressing the Free Senior High School (SHS) program, Aboagye criticized the government for failing to resolve persistent logistical issues, specifically citing inadequate food quality and supply chain delays in schools. While defending the program's ability to increase enrollment and remove financial barriers for low-income families, he argued that operational hurdles must be addressed to satisfy parents.

Furthermore, Aboagye criticized the current administration's approach to tertiary education fees. He argued that the “No-Fee-Stress” policy has become a source of financial burden because students are required to pay fees upfront and seek reimbursement later. He stated that this arrangement forces families, particularly those from low-income households, to secure loans or find funds themselves, which contradicts the original promise of eliminating the stress of upfront payments.
