Ghanaian film ‘Ego Reach We All’ wins two awards at Locarno
The Ghanaian feature film ‘Ego Reach We All’ (Our Time Will Come) secured two major awards at the 79th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland. Written and directed by Amartei Armar and produced by Yemoh Ike, the 105-minute drama won the Pardo for Change award.
Additionally, Ghanaian actor Idrissu Tontie Jr. received the award for Best Male Performance for his role in the film. The production is a co-production involving Ghana, France, and Saudi Arabia, and is spoken in Twi, Ga, and Pidgin.
The film is an adaptation of Armar’s 2018 short film, ‘Vagabonds’. It was shot entirely in Ghana and has previously received recognition through the Cannes Focus CoPro Award and support from the Red Sea Development Fund.
