Ghanaian local authorities provide support for Homowo festivities
Various local government authorities in Ghana are providing support for the annual Homowo festivities. In Accra, the Mayor, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, and the Korle Klottey Municipal Chief Executive, Alfred Allotey Gaisie, organized a free dinner for head porters, known as Kayayei, in the Tudu area. The meal included rice, stew, meat, salad, and beverages. The Mayor also provided cash assistance to women caring for young children to support their feeding needs.
In the Adentan Municipality, the Adentan Municipal Assembly, led by Municipal Chief Executive Ella Esinam Christine Nongo, donated assorted food items, drinks, and an undisclosed amount of money to several traditional councils. The donations included palm oil, maize, schnapps, and various beverages to support celebrations in areas such as Ogbojo, Adentan, and Otanor. The Assembly noted that supporting traditional councils is essential for promoting peaceful coexistence and community development during the festival.
