Ghanaian officials promote sanitation through local cleaning initiatives

Government officials in Ghana are intensifying efforts to improve environmental hygiene through local sanitation initiatives. In Accra, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, joined Mayor Michael Kpakpo Allotey and local traders for the September National Sanitation Day. The exercise involved sweeping streets in the Tudu area to assess compliance and encourage businesses to maintain cleanliness in the Central Business District.

In the Ashanti Region, Kwadaso Municipal Chief Executive Eric Asibey has launched a household dustbin project. The initiative aims to provide bins to households to prevent indiscriminate littering. Asibey urged residents, traditional chiefs, and religious leaders to support the project and adopt regular cleaning habits to improve public health and sustainability within the municipality.
