Ghanaian players perform strongly in European football
Ghanaian footballers achieved several notable results in European club competitions over the weekend of August 30–31, 2026. Mohammed Kudus made his return to competitive action for Tottenham Hotspur following a seven-month injury absence, appearing in a 2-0 home defeat against Newcastle United.
In the Premier League, Antoine Semenyo played the full 90 minutes for Manchester City during their 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace. Semenyo provided the assist for Erling Haaland’s opening goal.
Other standout performances included Kwaku Karikari, who scored a hat-trick and provided an assist for Železničar Pančevo in a 5-1 win in Serbia, and Gideon Mensah, who made his Bundesliga debut for FC Köln in a 3-2 win over TSG Hoffenheim. Additionally, Joseph Opoku scored for Swansea City, and Fatawu Issahaku recorded an assist for Ipswich Town.
