Ghanaian political landscape shifts amid leadership changes and election predictions

In Ghana, political developments are shaping the outlook for future elections. Kofi Bentil, Vice President of IMANI Africa, described Kojo Bamba’s election as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) First Vice Chairman as a strategic move that could bolster voter confidence in election security. Bentil argued that a party’s ability to project strength regarding the protection of supporters and ballot integrity can encourage higher voter turnout and discourage interference.

Separately, Prophet Thomas Iddrissu has made a prediction regarding the 2028 general elections, stating that NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will not win the presidency. During an encounter with President John Dramani Mahama in the Ahafo Region, the prophet expressed his support for Mahama’s reelection in 2028. Iddrissu also issued a warning against electoral malpractice, stating that those involved in rigging the polls would face severe consequences.
