Ghanaian political parties clash over local leadership and evacuation controversies

National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has called for calm within the Ahafo Ano South-West District following the death of District Chief Executive Abubakar Sedik. Speaking at Sedik’s funeral in Mankranso, Nketiah warned that internal competition for the vacant position could cause party divisions. He stated that the NDC leadership would consult President John Dramani Mahama to ensure an orderly transition and the continuation of local development projects.

Separately, NDC member Theophilus Dzimega has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of manufacturing scandals regarding the evacuation of Ghanaians from South Africa. Dzimega defended the government’s handling of the evacuation, asserting that the process followed proper procedures and that criticisms from the NPP are politically motivated attempts to create controversy without concrete evidence.
