Ghanaian professor launches tech platform to predict university admission chances

Professor Kobby Mensah has developed a digital platform called ‘Admissions Checker’ to assist students in Ghana with the university application process. The technology aims to reduce the financial uncertainty of applying to institutions by allowing students to input their examination results and receive an estimated probability of admission based on historical cut-off points.

The platform utilizes algorithms to compare student data against the requirements of more than 100 universities across the country. Instead of a simple pass or fail, the system provides a percentage-based likelihood of success for specific programs, such as pharmacy, and suggests alternative universities where a student might have a higher chance of enrollment.

In related academic developments, the University of Ghana has released its cut-off point demands for various programs. Highly competitive courses such as Biomedical Engineering, Computer Engineering, and Law require very high aggregates, while programs like Marine and Fisheries Science or certain Administration tracks show lower entry requirements.
