Ghanaian teachers appeal to Mahama to settle 2012–2015 arrears

The Association of Aggrieved Teachers of Legacy Arrears (2012–2015) has appealed to President John Mahama to urgently settle outstanding salary arrears owed to teachers for the period between 2012 and 2015.

The association stated that the prolonged delay in payment has caused significant financial hardship for affected teachers and their families. They noted that while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) acknowledged these arrears during the 2016 election campaign and pledged to settle them, the payments remained outstanding throughout the NPP's tenure in office.

In their appeal, the group cited President Mahama’s previous introduction of the Three-Month Pay Policy as evidence of his understanding of the difficulties caused by delayed wages. The association urged the government to treat the settlement of these decade-old entitlements as a priority.
