Ghanaian tricycle rider jailed for biting police assistant

Abdul Aziz, a 24-year-old Pragyia tricycle rider, has been sentenced to three months in prison by the Nkawie Circuit Court in the Ashanti region of Ghana. Aziz pleaded guilty to the charge of negligently causing harm.

The incident occurred on September 3, 2026, during a patrol by the Nkawie Divisional Motor Traffic and Transport Department. Officers intercepted Aziz and discovered he was operating his tricycle without a license or required documentation. When Community Police Assistant Alhassan Seidu attempted to escort him to the police station, Aziz disobeyed directions and attacked Seidu.

During the ensuing struggle, Aziz bit Seidu on the chest. Nearby youths assisted in the arrest of the convict, who subsequently admitted to the offense in his caution statement.
