Ghana's Black Stars knocked out by Colombia as Gyan decries team’s lack of urgency
The Ghanaian national team, the Black Stars, were eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a 1‑0 defeat to Colombia in the round of 32 in Kansas City. Former captain and all‑time top scorer Asamoah Gyan said the squad showed no urgency after going behind, failed to create clear chances and lacked men in the box. He also questioned the tactical changes made during the tournament, arguing Ghana should have stuck with the approach that worked against England.
Gyan praised Colombia’s attacking spirit, noting they continued to press even after taking the lead and deserved the victory. Ghana’s World Cup campaign ended with one win, one draw and two losses, scoring only two goals while conceding three.
