Ghana's Black Stars ready for 2026 World Cup with new coach Carlos Queiroz

The Ghana Football Association said it would have preferred to keep Otto Addo in charge after he qualified the Black Stars for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but a run of poor results led to his dismissal. Veteran Portuguese manager Carlos Queiroz was appointed on a short‑term deal to steer the team through the tournament preparations.

Ghana has been drawn in Group L with Panama, England and Croatia, opening the campaign against Panama on 17 June at BMO Field, followed by matches against England on 23 June and Croatia on 27 June. The team hopes to advance beyond the group stage for the first time since 2010.

Goalkeeper Paul Reverson, a promising Ajax prospect who was named in the provisional 28‑man squad but missed the final roster, expressed confidence that Ghana could reach the semi‑finals. He also voiced disappointment at not making the final squad, while reaffirming his ambition for future national team involvement.
