Ghana's GRIDCo Restores Power After Nationwide Outage
In the early hours of 29 July 2026, a disturbance on Ghana’s National Interconnected Transmission System at about 03:11 a.m. caused the simultaneous tripping of several generating plants, resulting in a nationwide power outage. The state transmission company, Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), activated its established system‑restoration procedures and began work to re‑energise the grid.
