Ghana's MIIF and Forestry Commission partner to restore Subri Forest Reserve

The Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) has partnered with the Forestry Commission of Ghana to rehabilitate 50 acres of degraded land within the Subri River Forest Reserve. Supported by Zijin Golden Ridge Limited, Ghana International Bank, and three other financial institutions, the initiative is part of a corporate social responsibility effort focused on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards.

The two-year project, titled “Support of Forest Rehabilitation in Mining Regions and Promotion of Sustainability in Mining,” will be conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and the Environmental Protection Authority. Under a Memorandum of Understanding, the Forestry Commission will provide technical expertise and oversee the restoration activities.

MIIF Chief Executive Officer Justina Nelson stated that the project reflects a commitment to balancing mineral resource benefits with responsible environmental management, aiming to protect biodiversity and ensure long-term community benefits from natural resources.
