Ghana’s Mining Minister Promotes Investment Reforms at New York Investor Forum

Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Emmanuel Armah‑Kofi Buah led a high‑level delegation to New York, hosted by Newcore Gold Ltd., to showcase Ghana’s mining sector to international investors. The meeting highlighted the government’s regulatory reforms aimed at creating a transparent, sustainable and investor‑friendly environment, while encouraging local participation.

Representatives of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP), including coordinator Ama Mawusi Mawuenyefia, explained efforts to formalise artisanal and small‑scale mining through cooperative structures, skills development and responsible mining practices. Ghana’s ambassador to the United States, Victor Smith, reiterated the country’s commitment to becoming a leading African destination for responsible mining investment. Attendees discussed strategic partnerships and the potential for long‑term capital inflows to support inclusive growth in Ghana’s extractive industry.
