Ghana's National Democratic Congress launches six‑volume historical series

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ghana's dominant political party founded in 1992 and tracing its roots to Kwame Nkrumah's People's National Party, has completed a six‑volume publication documenting its history and the evolution of the Fourth Republic. The books, which include a manifesto volume and a record of constitutional changes, were formally presented to NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah ahead of a public launch scheduled for 28 September 2026 at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA).

Nketiah said the project marks the start of a broader effort to preserve the party’s institutional memory, noting, “We will move ahead to a point where we will be able to document the minutes of our meetings… When you want to refer to a decision the party has ever taken, you should be able to trace the meeting, the date and the minutes to see exactly how those decisions were made.” He added, “We now have correct documentation of how the party was founded, the original founding documents with the original signatures of our founding fathers and our journey from our first election up to today.” The publication aims to provide future generations with a comprehensive record of the NDC’s milestones, leadership elections, manifesto development, and internal governance reforms.
