Gharbia police arrest suspects for kidnapping and extortion

Security forces in Gharbia, Egypt, have arrested four individuals, including three considered dangerous criminals, following a kidnapping and extortion attempt. The incident came to light after a video circulated on social media showing a worker being assaulted and threatened with a dog.

According to investigations by the Santa Police Station, the victim was lured to an agricultural plot under the pretext of resolving a financial dispute. Once there, the suspects assaulted and restrained him, using a dog to threaten him while filming the ordeal. The group then stole the victim's mobile phone and sent the footage to a relative of the victim to demand money for his release.

The victim managed to escape, leading to the subsequent police operation. Authorities recovered the stolen phone, the tools used in the assault, and the dog involved in the incident. The suspects confessed to the crime, and the case has been referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation. The dog was placed in a veterinary care facility.
