Ghaziabad police arrest two suspects after shootout

Ghaziabad police arrested two suspects following an encounter in the Sihani Gate police station area. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Ziauddin Ahmed, the operation began after intelligence suggested criminals were traveling in an auto-rickshaw to commit a crime.

During a police check, the suspects attempted to flee in the vehicle before abandoning it and fleeing on foot. The suspects opened fire on the police team, prompting a retaliatory response. Two individuals, identified as Shakir and Pawan, sustained gunshot wounds to their legs during the exchange. Two other accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness.

Authorities recovered two illegal pistols, cartridges, and the auto-rickshaw used in the incident. The arrested suspects have reportedly confessed to involvement in multiple previous theft cases and have criminal histories. The injured suspects have been hospitalized, and police are conducting raids to apprehend the remaining fugitives.
