Ghaziabad police encounter leaves mobile snatcher wounded

Police in Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram area engaged in an encounter with two suspects on a motorcycle on Monday night. During a routine checking operation on Kanawani Pusta Road, officers signaled for the vehicle to stop, but the suspects attempted to flee at high speed.

The suspects reportedly opened fire on the police team, prompting officers to return fire in self-defense. One suspect, identified as Sohail from Delhi, sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg and was transported to a hospital for treatment. His accomplice, identified as Amir, managed to escape the scene.

Sohail has reportedly confessed to a mobile snatching incident in the Vasundhara Chowki area approximately 15 days ago. Police recovered a handgun, live and spent cartridges, and a stolen Duke motorcycle from the scene. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the फरार (absconding) suspect.
