Ghaziabad student and national gold medallist dies after 12th-floor fall
A 14-year-old Class 9 student, identified as Prachi, died after falling from the 12th-floor balcony of her apartment in the Rajnagar Residency Society, located in the Rajnagar Extension area of Ghaziabad.
The incident occurred on a Friday night around 9:00 PM. According to family members and preliminary reports, the teenager had gone to the balcony to collect clothes that were drying when she lost her footing and fell. She was rushed to Yashoda Hospital in Sanjay Nagar, where doctors declared her dead.
Prachi was a notable student-athlete who had recently won two gold medals at the CBSE Rope Skipping National Championship in Shirdi, Maharashtra, in the ‘Double Dutch Pair Freestyle’ and ‘Double Dutch Single Freestyle’ categories.
Nandgram police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the fall. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage and awaiting a post-mortem report to determine whether the incident was an accident or if other factors were involved. No suicide note was recovered from the scene.
